Our 1st ETV for Africa was Buried in Liberia
Thanks to our friends with everyday gandhis in Voinjama, Liberia we successfully buried our 23rd ETV on the winter solstice 2009. 500 members of the diverse community in the worst fought area of the civil war participated in the final ceremony to fill the vase with prayers and offerings for peace. The burial site, selected by a council of elders, is in a traditional village destined to become a Cultural Heritage Center. The community wishes to develop the burial site as a Peace Refuge and gathering place under the Kola Tree to remember their prayers for peace that were offered into the vase. We are thrilled that the practice was so well received and look forward to staying connected as the next steps unfold!
