Liberia Peacebuilding Project Update
We received word from Christian Wolo Bethelson who recently visited Ganta, where Alliance for the Earth is supporting the construction of a palava peace hut in early 2012. Bethelson writes:
“I spent some time with the ex-combatants, elders and city mayor along with the county inspector, Hon. Jimmy Kamara. We also discussed the same good intentions. I told the ex-combatants in the presence of the city major and the rest of the youth of Voinjama that whenever we have a problem, we should learn how to use our breath because our breathing will alleviate us from our problems. After that I lifted the bell up high and said, “Look gentlemen, from General Leopard to General Bell!” which made everyone to laugh out their guts and the response from some of them was that they will never be used as killing machines anymore.”
Over the next four years, Alliance for the Earth will be teaming up with our partners on the ground to tend the seeds of peace in Liberia. Learn more about what we are up to and the precious opportunity our Liberia Peacebuilding Project holds by clicking here:
